Cờ Vàng ba sọc đỏ đã được Cựu Hoàng Bảo Ðại
và đại diện các tổ chức chính
trị và tôn giáo chọn làm Quốc Kỳ cho Quốc Gia Việt Nam vào ngày 2 tháng 6 năm 1948. Sau Hiêp Định Geneve chia đôi đất nước vào ngày 20 tháng 7 năm 1954, với miền
Bắc theo chế độ cộng sản, tại miền Nam, Quốc Hội Lập Hiến của nền Đệ
Nhất Cộng Hòa đã biểu quyết tiếp tục chọn Cờ Vàng Ba Sọc Đỏ làm Quốc Kỳ
của Việt Nam Cộng Hòa vào năm 1956.
Do vậy, Cờ Vàng Ba Sọc Đỏ là Quốc
Kỳ chính thức của Quốc Gia Việt Nam từ năm 1948 đến 1975, là biểu tượng cùa một
quốc gia độc lập, có đầy đủ chủ quyền, chính phủ, quân đội, ngoại giao, và được
quốc tế công nhận.
Để nhắc nhớ rằng Việt Nam đã từng có một thể chế tự do, dân chủ, độc lập
hoàn toàn trái ngược với chế độ cộng sản độc tài, đảng trị hiện nay.

Religious and Political Leaders Launch Movement to Honor the Yellow Flag
Event in Westminster, California commemorates the
Republic of Vietnam’s national symbol of freedom and democracy
Westminster, CA – Religious dignitaries and political
organizations of the Vietnamese diaspora will hold a solemn ceremony to launch
the Movement to Honor the Yellow Flag on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from
10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Vietnamese American War Memorial, 14180 All
American Way, Westminster, California. The event reaffirms the Yellow Flag with
Three Red Stripes as a symbol of liberty, democracy, and the enduring
aspirations of the Vietnamese people.
The Yellow Flag with Three Red Stripes was first
adopted on June 2, 1948, when Former Emperor Bảo Đại, together with
representatives of political and religious organizations, selected it as the
national flag of the State of Vietnam. Following the Geneva Agreement of July
20, 1954, which divided the nation with the North under communist rule, the
flag continued to be upheld by the Constituent Assembly of the First Republic,
which in 1956 officially designated it as the national flag of the Republic of
Vietnam.
From 1948 to 1975, the Yellow Flag was the
recognized national flag of an independent, sovereign state with its own
government, armed forces, diplomacy, and international legitimacy. It remains
today the symbol of a free Vietnam in stark contrast to the communist regime
that now governs the country.
This ceremony is convened to remind the
international community that Vietnam once had a free, democratic, and
independent regime—a legacy which continues to inspire the struggle for human
rights and liberty. The organizers affirm that the Yellow Flag represents not
only history but also the future hope of democracy for Vietnam.
