    Đối thoại Nhân quyền Hoa Kỳ-Việt Nam thường niên lần thứ 24

    2020 U.S.-Vietnam Human Rights Dialogue

    Đối thoại Nhân quyền Hoa Kỳ-Việt Nam thường niên lần thứ 24 được tổ chức vào ngày 6 tháng 10 năm 2020 thông qua phiên họp trực tuyến.

    Phó Trợ lý chính Vụ trưởng Vụ Các vấn đề Đông Á và Thái Bình Dương, Đại sứ Atul Keshap chào mừng đoàn Việt Nam tham gia Đối thoại, nhấn mạnh mối quan hệ bền chặt giữa hai nước khi chúng ta kỷ niệm 25 năm thiết lập quan hệ ngoại giao.

    Quyền Phó Trợ lý Bộ trưởng Dân chủ, Nhân quyền và Lao động Scott Busby dẫn đầu phái đoàn Mỹ và Vụ trưởng Vụ Tổ chức Quốc tế Bộ Ngoại giao Việt Nam Đỗ Hùng Việt đã dẫn đầu  phái đoàn Việt Nam.

    Đại sứ Hoa Kỳ tại Việt Nam Daniel Kritenbrink và Đại sứ Hà Kim Ngọc tại Đại sứ quán nước Cộng hòa xã hội chủ nghĩa Việt Nam tại thủ đô Washington cũng tham gia phát biểu khai mạc.

    Đối thoại kéo dài 3 giờ đồng hồ đã đề cập đến một loạt các vấn đề nhân quyền, bao gồm tầm quan trọng của tiến bộ tiếp tục và hợp tác song phương về pháp quyền, tự do ngôn luận và lập hội, tự do tôn giáo và quyền lao động. Đối thoại cũng đề cập đến quyền của các nhóm dân cư dễ bị tổn thương, chẳng hạn như các nhóm dân tộc thiểu số và người khuyết tật.

    Việc thúc đẩy nhân quyền và các quyền tự do cơ bản vẫn là một trụ cột quan trọng trong chính sách đối ngoại của Hoa Kỳ và là chìa khóa để xây dựng hơn nữa quan hệ Đối tác Toàn diện Hoa Kỳ – Việt Nam.

    The 24th Annual U.S.-Vietnam Human Rights Dialogue was held on October 6, 2020 via virtual sessions.  Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs Ambassador Atul Keshap welcomed the Vietnamese delegation to the Dialogue, highlighting the strong ties between our two countries as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

    Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Scott Busby and Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Department of International Organizations Director General Do Hung Viet led their respective delegations.  U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel Kritenbrink and Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Washington, DC also provided opening remarks.

    The three-hour Dialogue addressed a wide range of human rights issues, including the importance of continued progress and bilateral cooperation on the rule of law, freedom of expression and association, religious freedom, and labor rights.  The Dialogue also covered the rights of vulnerable populations, such as ethnic minority groups and persons with disabilities.

    The promotion of human rights and fundamental freedoms remains a critical pillar of U.S. foreign policy and is key to further building upon the U.S.-Vietnam Comprehensive Partnership.
