Cờ Vàng Ba Sọc Đỏ l THE FLAG REMAINS — Yellow Flag, Three Red Stripes

"Grandfather… tell us again." Yellow Flag, Three Red Stripes This is a song about memory. About a flag that fell but never disappeared. About soldiers who died for freedom. About a grandfather who carried the yellow flag with three red stripes through fire, across the ocean, and into the hands of children who still remember. This flag — born in 1948, lowered in 1975 — has no country today. But it has a people. The Vietnamese diaspora flies this flag from California to Paris, from Sydney to Oslo. We do not use the current flag of Vietnam. We find it offensive. Instead, we fly the yellow flag with three red stripes — our heritage, our freedom, our promise to return one day. But we also say thank you. To the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand — you gave our families shelter when we had none. We will never forget that.
